Volunteers are an integral part of the California Science Center family.

As a non-profit organization, we depend on our volunteer force to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Science Center. In addition to the tangible benefits our volunteers receive, they also enjoy the personal satisfaction of sharing in the fulfillment of the California Science Center mission. Varying in age volunteers come from all walks of life - yet on a volunteer level, they share the same mission: to touch the lives of children and families in a positive way by giving of their personal time.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to serve in an array of exciting positions. Volunteer shifts are available every day of the week (including Saturday & Sunday) between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Volunteers are usually scheduled for a four hour shift, typical shifts are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Boost your skill set and discover new things that may peak your interest, all while enabling the California Science Center to accomplish far more than that which the staff would be able to do alone. Step into a friendly environment and safe space.  Volunteering keeps you physically active, socially engaged, and supports an overall balanced well-being and sense of purpose. You are bound to meet interesting people and form a deeper connection with the world of science.

Should I be nervous if I don't have a background in science? View Details

If you have enthusiasm, the willingness to help and are curious about the world we live in, if you enjoy nature and living animals, or are fascinated by space, you won’t need to have a background in science.
