This is one in a series of exclusive astronaut interviews filmed inside space shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Center. In this interview, conducted in 2016, space shuttle pilot and commander Rick Searfoss covers all kinds of topics like working in space, shuttle operations, and how being in space can make astronauts feel extremely connected to humanity as a whole. Sadly, Rick Searfoss passed away in September 2018, but we are thankful to be able to share his words with you now. He really loved sharing his passion for spaceflight and his experiences to help others learn.
Astronaut interviews were made possible by a generous grant from The Ahmanson Foundation.
