Sr. Director of Human Resources

The Sr. Director of Human Resources is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive Talent and People Operations strategy supporting the full employee life cycle including employee relations, talent attraction, learning and development, compensation and benefits administration, performance management, compliance, and policy development. It is essential that the Sr. HR Director build trust, develop organizational knowledge, and serve as a collaborative business partner to executive leadership and management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.A. required. M.A. in Human Resources or Business preferred with 10 years or more experience.
- Strong HR operational experience to include Recruitment, Compensation, Employee Relations, Learning & Development, Benefits and Leave Administration, and Labor Law Compliance - Affirmative Action, Labor Relations, OSHA, FMLA, Wage & Hour.
- Analytics with a proven record of functional, managerial success. Should be people-oriented and collaborative, with an approachable communication style.
- Self-confident, diplomatic, and professional, with the ability to manage conflict and promote company policies and procedures.
- Ability to develop creative and unique programs to support the hiring and culture needs of the Science Center.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Direct and straightforward, possessing clarity of thought and expression.
- High integrity and ethics. Desirous of working in an organization with high normative values.
- Function as a catalyst, coach, and active participant fostering a team-oriented culture.
- Focus on training and continuous improvement.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITITES
- Lead the development of programs supporting talent attraction, selection, development, and promotion to ensure proper and effective staffing and succession planning across the organization. Liaise with various external civic and trade organizations to attract qualified candidates and to promote goodwill.
- Oversee employee communications to include new hire orientation, benefits counseling, employee policies, equal employment opportunity, employee relations, and other organization wide communication needs.
- Provide employee relations support and coaching to all team members and management, conduct confidential investigations, recommending courses of action, and performance management when needed.
- Support change management initiatives and organizational development needs ensuring a culture that fosters productivity and employee engagement and leveraging organizational goals, structures, and processes.
- Oversee all health and wellness plan administration, regularly reviewing plans and programs for improvements, cost effectiveness, and utilization.
- Manage leaves of absence and worker’s compensation administration, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
- Conduct regular wage and salary evaluation and advise executive management on compensation strategy including annual performance cycles, merit increases, and promotions when applicable.
- Create and implement meaningful leadership and talent development programs and training that will provide opportunities for internal promotion, employee engagement, and succession planning.
- Maintain employee records and data files, ensuring completeness, confidentiality, and accuracy.
- Serve as a trusted business partner to the management team, providing coaching and advisory support related to all HR Programs and Talent Strategy.
- Support the vision and mission of the Science Center, showing a commitment to developing employees and consistently focusing on best practices in Human Resources.
- Develop and maintain organizational charts, positions descriptions, and performance management tracking tools.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and oversee a Human Resources Policies & Procedures Program and monitor its effectiveness.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to an HR team of 5.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships including regular communication and information exchange with employees and leadership across all departments.
- The Sr. Director of Human Resources will manage other duties as regularly assigned.
COMPENSATION
$130,000.00 - $150,000.00 - Annually
